"LEGACY” MERCURY – REMEDIATION/REMOVAL SERVICES”

The primary mission of TERRA NOVA ECOSOLUTIONS (TNES) is to remediate or removal “legacy” mercury from Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) or abandoned mine sites. TNES has dedicated time over the last 25 years to conducting field studies within the Western USA and internationally to remediate mercury contaminated AML sites.

• Special attention is focused on mercury-contaminated mining sites located in the upper portions of watersheds, where particulate mercury continues to discharge into the lower watersheds and contaminate sediments and water and further contaminate biota through mercury bioaccumulation in tissue.
• Highly contaminated mercury AML site are selected for cleanup after comparative ranking of mercury contaminant levels in water, sediment, and biota. Using this method, the highest priority sites can be selected for pilot-scale or full-scale mercury remediation or mercury removal.
• Mercury removal operations at high-priority AML sites are the most effective and maximize reduction of ongoing water and sediment contamination and high-level seasonal discharges.
• The TNES team is happy to discuss “mercury remediation/removal services” options with a client that are tailored to the varying levels of federal or state regulatory compliance that may be required at a particular AML site or legacy mine site.
